Over the weekend I said 3 skills flow out a humble love. These skills are endurance, perseverance and patience. Here are the definitions I gave:
ENDURANCE is continual effort in the face of obstacles or suffering
PERSEVERANCE is continual effort in the face of suffering to achieve a greater good.
PATIENCE is the skill to wait and withhold comment or action as an act of love often in the face of suffering and pain.
By the power of God we can replace stories of pride, privilege and power with a story of humble love. This will allow us to develop these live skills of endurance, perseverance and patience.
Here is a great prayer to share with people you love.
"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you.We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father." -Colossians 1:9-12
Notice the request is for a greater knowledge of God and God's will which can result in great endurance and patience.
Ask yourself or people you love these questions:
Where do I need endurance in my life today?
Am I asking God to produce the skill of great endurance in my life?
Where am I impatient?
What if ask God to so expand my love for people that I would ait and withhold comment or action as an act of love?
God wants us to produce the skill of endurance and patience in your life!
